And then there were two...

So about a year or so passed and life was the usual.  Teaching all week, dog school with Braut on Saturday mornings and then scrapbooking a few times a month.  I had started selling Creative Memories.  One of the girls that I "scapped" with had gotten a doxie for her daughter.  Guess who ended up taking care of him?  Because the mother worked a lot (12/13 hours a day) the 7 month old doxie was headed to the shelter if I didn't take him.  Guess who came home?!  I remembered getting him in the car…. all of a sudden- a HORRENDOUS smell.  Yep, he blew his anal glands on me.  Holy crap, what a way to give a 1st impression!!

We didn't hold it against him.  He met Braut and all went well.  My husband (at the time) didn't want him, but I thought Braut needed a brother.  Maybe that's what started our demise… probably not, lol.  Anyway, as a few days passed it became VERY clear there was something going on.  This dog was backwards potty trained, ahhhh!  Yep, he "went" all over the house and thought outside was to have a good time.  What?!  So my mom got some of the usual new dog phone calls, "I can't do this!!!  Mom, he's crapping all over the house!  What do I do?!"  She calmed me down and after a routine was set up life got better.

I'll tell you, he's been in my fur family now almost 10 years (I can't believe it's been that long!) and he's the best potty trained dog I have.  :)  He is also the most active dog I have.  I tell you, this dog is like Wallace the Pit Bull in a doxie body.  He has been a driven dog ever since he came into my life.  He has an EXTREME amount of energy.  During nice weather he needs a walk or play in the yard every day.  When it's cruddy outside, we do it in the house.  And, it's still going on today.  I'm not talking a leisurely stroll for 30 minutes.  I mean an hour or 90 min brisk walk or 45 minute fetch session at the park.  He doesn't want to stop, but I make him.  Luckily, he has a very strong body.  I have always thrown low and when it's down-time, he uses dog ramps and special steps.

Boomer is going to be 10, March 3rd.  (He is the 2nd of my 2 dogs that I know his actual birthday.  The past owner gave me his paperwork from the puppy store she bought him from.)  On New Years 2014, he played ball with some kids at school for over 5 hours.  Try to stop him?  Take a break?  He'll have none of that.  This dog is insane.  I wish I could bottle some of his energy and inject it!!  People are amazed when they see him in action.  He loves it and I know would be depressed if he couldn't be active.  He will take a break for a couple hours and then be ready to go right back at it.

He's been a wonderful addition to the pack.  Braut will only play with Boomer.  They sleep beside each other every night and will snuggle in the same dog bed.

Long live "The Boom"!!!!!!!
